Nykris was a digital design studio set up in 1997 by two of the most experienced designers in new media - Nikki Barton and Chris Prior. Nikki and Chris first met while working at the BBC’s Interactive Television Unit, which became the MultiMedia Corporation in 1990. I started at Nykris as an interactive designer in 1998, while still a student. It was a fantastic experience. I learnt loads and we won a lot of awards. Sadly, Nykris closed their doors for the last time in 2007.

One of the big new media coups of 1999 was Microsoft asking Nykris to design the UI for the next version of Internet Explorer for Mac. Apple’s iMacs were selling like hot cakes and big M wanted in. So Microsoft came to hip Hoxton for a bit of Nykris magic.
